A ramble to enjoy the sea air, walking towards Spain.
From Bidart to San Sebastian in Spain, this easy walk covers 54 km. It is to be completed in stages, and is a lovely way to explore the Basque coast, coastal villages, mountains and panoramic views of the immense Atlantic ocean.
bidart TO SAINt-JEAN DE luz
From Erretegia beach, it takes 3½ hrs to reach the little port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Don’t miss Sainte-Madeleine Chapel at the 13 km point. You’ll also see beaches in Cenitz and Lafitenia, the botanical garden and the view of the bay from the lush green Sainte-Barbe headland.
SAINT-JEAN-DE-LUZ to Hendaye

This 12 km coastline walk takes in the ridge with its rocky cliffs showing layers of natural sedimentary rock. In the midst of this wild scenery, visit Domaine d’Abbadia and its strange château. As you approach the end, there are two majestic rocks, “the twins”, signalling your safe arrival in Hendaye.
