Get a breath of sea air and discover the Basque Coastline by bike

From Roscoff in Brittany to Hendaye in the Basque Country, this cycle route is 1,200 km long, an invigorating ride with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop. Get on your bike and set out to ride through wild coastland. This bike route is well signposted from start to finish for a totally safe trip.

You leave this City of Art and History riding along the Adour river which soon flows into the sea. You reach the long beaches in Anglet via the Chiberta pine forest. On the heights of Biarritz, near the lighthouse, the horizon opens up to the Cantabrian sea, with a glimpse of the Spanish coast.

This is the athletic stretch of the itinerary. It takes four hours to cover 14 km. Sometimes you have to share the route with cars, so feel free to put your foot down. Your efforts will be rewarded with stunning viewpoints with orientation tables and educational trails for an entertaining visit.

This last stretch is 11 km long. You’ll love this 3-hour ride with its magnificent surprises: Socoa Fort, steep cliffs, a panoramic ocean view and the Spanish coast with the mountains as a backdrop! It’s best to leave early in the morning avoid heavy daytime traffic.
