At the end of Chemin Aguerria, there is a free car park. Walk down the short, steep path and you will be just a few metres away from a haven of peace and tranquillity. When you opt for the 400 metre-stretch of sand and pebbles at Mayarco Cove, you are opting for a natural landscape and secluded atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding resorts.

It’s the perfect place for recharging your batteries. It’s a good alternative to the Angloy coast’s long beaches and its location makes it naturally more secluded. That’s another of the Basque Coast’s treasures: being able to choose different atmospheres, depending on your mood and what you feel like doing.

This beach is in the Acotz quarter, to the north of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and extends from the bottom of a grassy cliff. If you look southwards you can see Spain and its mountains, the view is amazing!
The ebbtide uncovers rocky areas which can be explored to see what life forms are nestled there. The cove seems to transform itself into a natural swimming pool.

At high tide, grab your mask and snorkel, dive in and admire the sea bed. When you come out of the water, sit on the pebbles for a few minutes. You will be enveloped by their soothing warmth.

You can do this in the morning, afternoon but also in the evening for an unforgettable moment watching the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean.
A beach bar provides light refreshments.
Mayarco is supervised in the summer season, July and August.
